Of Appreciating Randomness and Leraning

mar.5-6.1969

I don’t know what all I expected when I started this but I think part of it was some consistency. Are journals/diaries supposed to be consistent? Maybe I was expecting some sort of format or formula to the entries I don’t know. There are definitely themes one of which is insomnia, another is devotion to his church and religion others seem to be his love for Mimi, his involvement with fraternal organizations, and a bit of chronicling of family history. The theme for the 5th and 6th of March seems to be insomnia. Both days he’s battling it and it seems to be stemming from some medical issue he is having as well as continued bad, and seemingly vivid, dreams. I’m curious what book he was reading that Grace brought over and also why he wore hand-me-down shoes.

mar.8-9.1908

I can excuse a bit more the lack of organization/format whatever in the 1908 journal as he was younger when he wrote that one. But it certainly would help to know the topic/category the Roman numerals are associated with to help make sense of them. It doesn’t help that the pages for the 8th and 9th are mostly blank save for what appears to be an erased entry about Smith. Upon closer inspection the erased bit seems to say “Smith is a little baby girl he eats pecans in school and plays he’s a bad girl to.” What?!

mar.7-8.1969

Insomnia persists for the 7th and 8th of 1969 as do his medical issues but that doesn’t keep him from his church and club activities. The name ‘Trabue’ is new to me and I suspect misspelled and I had no idea there was a family plot anywhere. Interesting that this relative that passed was also a member of some fraternal organizations.
